Is the moth ball chemical gone if the moth ball smell is gone? How do you make sure the chemical is gone?

Over time moth balls have been made with different chemicals and deordorent, commonly 1,4-dichlorobenzene is now used. If you can't smell this pungent chemical is may be gone but not safe to leave laying around, its an insecticide. Seal in a zip lock bag inside another bag and dispose.
