Change in salary paydate two days before due payment is this allowed?
    Hi,

I current get paid on 14th of each month, so my next payment is due on Monday however my employer sent an email today advising the staff would not be paid on Monday but would be paid at the end of the month instead.

Are they legally allowed to do this with no notice to the employees?

Obviously I now have to worry about the commitments I have with direct debits on my account and so on. It is too late to change these dates for this month and I am sure to incur costs.

Apart from I also need to pay my child carer or I will not be able to go to work nexy week...

I am extremely angry at the way this has been communicated and the fact of no notice period has been given.

    Please help

    Thank You

You stated 'employer sent an e mail advising staff, etc'. I think that is fulfilling their obligation of notifying you. I suggest you get overdraft protection from your bank in case this happens again, then everything will be covered without penalties.

It's going to depend a lot of where you are. In the U.S. it depends on state law, and like a lot of other things, every state can be different. Also, do you have some type of contract with them? There may also be a different treatment between that which you have already earned (which was earned under an agreed pay date), and that which you have not yet earned.

This is a legal issue, not a finance one. And no one can answer a legal question without knowing where you are located.

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do by Monday anyway. It does suck - at very least, it's a bit unethical to pull off stuff like that. If the company needs to change some stuff like that, they can do it, but it's pretty crappy to change something that drastically with 3 days' notice.
