    Dimmer switch for a ceiling lamp
    What seems incorrect with this dimmer switch I have connected. It is for a lamp on a ceiling. The image on the right is what the wiring looked like before I connected the dimmer switch to it.

    I have made certain assumptions below. I they are correct, connect one side of the dimmer switch to the two hots. Connect the black going to the light to the other. What is the other picture?
