15 month old and chapped skin under lip
My 15 month old daughter has quite recently started sucking on her bottom lip. Now below her bottom lip she has chapped skin and a sore. She is too little too young to understand that she shouldn't do that and she won't keep carmex or anything else on the area, she just licks it off. Any clever ideas??

Well if he sin wasn't already damaged, I'd say put something on it that makes it taste bitter, or sour. But this might damage the skin even more. Try getting her something else to suck on, like how babies use pacifiers. Or maybe encourage the thumb instead, as long as it's kept clean. Then keep chapstick on it. THe carmex probably burns her lips and she might not like it, try something gentle, like vaseline or aquaphor, by equate. It might help with the dry cracking skin, as well as the sore.
