    Hello kal:

    There's a couple zones in Mexico. The border zone doesn't require an auto permit. If you can find it in this zone, I'll bet you can bring it back...

    But, if the car went into the interior, in order for it to have received a permit, it would have required the lender/owners permission. If you can find it in THIS zone, you're going to need the physical auto permit in order to get the car through customs. If you can get THAT document when you repo the car, you can probably bring it back...

    However, Mexico doesn't quite work the same way it does here... Sometimes the bribe you hand the guy works better than the law does.
