    Disappearing coolant on EF Falcon
    Hey guys,

I have a 1995 EF Falcon sedan and a while ago just out of nowhere it overheated. I realised I had a leaking hose. Admittedly I took longer than I should have to actually replace the hose, in the meantime kept topping up with water. Finally I replaced the hose, replaced the coolant and can no longer see any visible leaks.

However, a week later, it started overheating again. I pulled over & had a look and the radiator coolant had gone. I topped it back up, checked again a couple of days later and again half of it had disappeared. I can't see any leaks anywhere but it is just disappearing. Also after driving, when I pull up and get out of my car, I can smell coolant which I know isn't a good thing. I tried adding "Radiator Stop Leak" but that doesn't seem to have done anything.

What do you think the cause would be and what do you think would be the best & cheapest way to resolve it? The problem initially was clearly the hose (I could see where it was leaking from and when the engine was warm steam would also come from that spot), but that is fixed now - no leaking or steam, even when it started overheating that week later - so now I'm not sure where the problem is because I can't see anything wrong.

    Thanks :)
    Trent

Most likely cause is a head gasket. Have a professional perform a leak test. You will probably see the problem right away.

    Thanks :)

This turned out to be a far smaller problem than I expected which was a nice surprise!
It was a missing screw from the water-pump that the leak was coming from!

Hi, I have a 95 Ford Falcon Stationwagon. The brake lights seem to have a defective contact. Of 10 times hitting the brake, 9.5 times there is no lights, but 0.5 times there is. Can someone give advice how to find out what it might be and how to fox it? Thanks a lot.
