    Vanilty sink leak
    Re: a rather new bath sink. I noticed drops of water coming from the BOTTOM PART OF THE LARGE NUT whick is attached to the sink. The part of the pipe that the nut is on is closest to the bottom of the actual sink itself. The drops look as if they they are coming from the underside of the nut. Shall I tighten this nut a little for the drops to stop. Not enough drops to even drip on anything, probably evaporate. Thanks, marie h, scranton, pa. usa

    I take it the "large nut's" part of the trap or the compression nut on the raiser since the supply nuts are smaller. Snug the nut up and I'll bet the leak disappears. Good luck, Tom

    Bath sink drain
    It is the black pipe that's attached to the bathroom sink drain, and looking at it from a kneeling position looking upward, it is the first one I see that has threads and a nut, thus joining it to the sink. This black pipe then fits into the white pvc pipes. I'm wondering why it would drip from the BOTTOM of that nut, and looks like there was tan colored putty around it slightly.

    Where is this "black pipe" in relationship to the trap? Would this be the tailpiece that connects the lavatory drain to the trap? Could you send us a picture? Regards, Tom

    Yes, it is connected to trap, the very first pipe connection coming from drain hole in sink.

    Then that would be the compression nut on the trap raiser that connects the trap to the tailpiece from the drain. Did you snug up the nut to see if that stopped the leak?
