Craftsman Lawn Tractor Idles But Won't Run or Mow

Craftsman Lawn Tractor stalls when clutch/brake released whether in gear or neutral. However, will continue running if park brake set and left in neutral. Also stalls if I attempt to engage deck. Could this be anything other than seat switch? Please help... won't be able to find tractor if grass keeps growing!

    Hi,
Seat switch would seem to be the most logical (or the wiring going to it) since both have that switch in common in the two separate circuits used there.
It is called "Operator Pressence" that the seat is occupied with either the clutch out or the deck engaged or both. The Start circuit goes through other parts of both switches in succession, but the seat and neutral are rarely involved anymore.
    Peace,
    Clarke

Is it realtively easy to bypass until switch can be purchased? Or is it complicated and hard to get to? Any input appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Most of the prefessionals will not even tell you that you can bypass the safety switches. It is an ethical thing.. AND, it is not safe to run them without the safety switches.

You can bypass it rather easily. If you look for the switch under the seat you should be able to figure it out.

BUT, make sure that when you find that this is the problem you get the switch replaced and hooked back up ASAP.
