    Steps I need to take in order to adopt my nephew?
    My brother is going threw a rough patch in his life and is un-able to care for his little boy.He asked me if I would be interested in adopting him... My husband and I talked it over.. and we believe we are capable of giving him everything he needs...
    I live in Florida and my brother lives in Ohio.I was wondering what the first steps were in adopting my nephew??

    Your FIRST step is to find out if your brother (and the child's mother!) really want adoption for their son, or if they are thinking more along the lines of temporary guardianship.

    Your NEXT step is to get a lawyer.
