Some one has mentioned before that they were able to achieve a much lighter complexion by airbrushing and was even able to convince a boyfriend that this was her natural skin colour.

It's possible, but probably wouldn't last longer than a single application. Tanners use DHA (a epidermis color reacting sugar) that directly changes the color of the skin itself, (which is why it lasts for up to a week or more) which isn't possible at this time for achieving a lighter MELANIN concentration, and therefore a form of makeup would have to be used. Like all makeup, it's not even semi-permanent, and doesn't affect your skin's interior.

(Another reason as to why using skin lighteners in general take a long time; the melanin within your skin has to be removed, which is a slow process.)

I would also believe that they would need a much skilled makeup artist when applying with airbrush to make the skin appear lighter. Because after you add the basic tones, there are many other hues that will have to be added, such as the yellow hues and red hues, brown hues, etc. in order to make the skin look natural. So the makeup will eventually fade, and then reapplied on a consistent basis, which means they will be charging a lot more money for the effort.
