    Dryer doesn't get hot
    Hi,

Anyone with any advice before I go buy a new dryer would be appreciated :-)
I have an 8 year old Kenmore dryer. The problem I am having is that it does not heat up... it runs and tumbles fine, just doesn't heat up. Anyone know what the problem could be or should I just go get a new one if this is a major repair? Thanks Much -Jen

If it's electric then it's very likely that it's just a heating element. The hardest part is generally getting the thing opened up so that you have access, but what you want to look for is where each end of the heating element is connected to a post with wires attached to them.

Disconnect the wires and use an electrical tester to test for continuity. If you get no reading then it's bad - and needs replaced.

Definitely worth checking out before buying a new dryer or calling a repairman.
