    Drain modofication
I have a 5 ton carrier gas heat elec a/c. The drain that drains the condensation from the unit into the yard is making a mess in my yard. My dog likes to lay in it and he gets dirty and wet. I have a flower bed beside the A/C unit that I would like to divert the water to.

Can I do this without doing any harm to the unit. The drain pipe has a goose like thing I guess that keeps bugs from going up in it.

How is the best to do it if it is possible without damagingthe unit. It looks like the piping is 1/2 inch or may be 3/4.

Could I just hook another 1/2 inch pvc on it and route it over to the flower bed which would be slightly lower than where the water comes out now?

Which would be better drain it over in the flower bed and make use of the water or dig a dry well type drain hole and run it in it.

Myself I would dig the dry well, about 18 to 24 inches deep, maybe about 3/4 to full f with pea gravel and 90 the drain into it
