What is the average tax return for a child? This is the first time that I'll be claiming a child and am trying to find out about how much I'll be getting back from the government.:)

Better yet how much does the last pay stub say was taken out in federal taxes?

The child's tax exemption will be $3,600 for 2009, plus you will probably get a $1,000 Child Tax Credit.

Additionally, the child MAY qualify you for the Earned Income Credit if your income is below $35,000.
