Replacing window glazing on Gapco windows
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get out the old dried up brittle window glazing without leaving some in the groove. The edging just breaks off in little pieces because it is so old and brittle. The groove is not much wider then a razor and I don't know what the best tool would be to use for the job.

Meanwhile my window glazing has a jagged edge with the chunks broken off already.

This below is taken from the site linked above. From what I've read and from your basic description, I can only assume they are vinyl or metal windows with a plastic seal. What you called the glazing. One way to remove that plastic/vinyl seal would be to soften it with a hair dryer and use a very small screwdriver like the ones that come in a small 'precision' screwdriver kit. Or if it softens enough a sturdy metal paperclip or thin blade knife.

    Good luck.

"PJ -- I had Gapco's -- just getting them replaced now -- see the trial and tribulations I have gone through in the first day of my install.

I wouldn't bother trying to fix those windows -- they are absolute junk and the $ is just flying out the window literally the longer you keep them. With the aluminum spacer and metal frames they sweat like mad in the winter.

I think you can learn a lot from reading posts on this web-site. Especially the info on spacers.

I'll be so glad once they are out of my house.

    Best of luck."

Propane torch! Heat the glazing carefully and remove! A hair dryer will take forever but if you want to waste tome go for it! Lol
