    Hello g:

    In the US, if you're not a member of a protected class of workers, and you're not a member of a union, or you don't have an employment contract, you are considered an "at will" employee. That's a legal term meaning that you can be fired for ANY reason whatsoever, or no reason at all.

    Now, if people are lying about you, and you suffer damages because of it, (like losing your job), you can sue them.
