    Computing total power consumption?
    Hello All,

I have search a broad range of sites trying to find answers regarding computing power consumption for a network. The challenge comes from the fact that this network will only exist on paper and never materialize. I still believe that for the purpose of documentation that it can be represented by an expert guess. This is for hardware/software minimum runtime for 3 routers, 7 servers, 1 firewall, 24 switches, 8 Ethernet Modules[/B], 22 printers (2 Multifunction, 10 Office LaserJet, 10 desktop), 186 PCs, 30 Macs, and 8 projectors. If I can have a really educated guess for that it would be awesome.

I will be forever in your debt if you can help me figure out an idea recommendation for an Uninterruptible Power Supply for at least the data center portion. Thank you very much for any and all of your time and knowledge.

If you're looking for a number you won't get it. Since you're in a bind the best thing to do is make an assumption (i.e. HP Printer model xx, Router model x, etc) and lookup their power consumption on-line. Add them all up and you'll have your ball park answer.

    Thank you,

I was pretty much thinking along those lines, I was just curious for the most part. I think that it will work well enough as it is and I will surely do as you recommended.

You can also try going to www.apc.com, I believe they have a tool there that will match you up with a UPS depending on your network size.
