Call the police. If she will assault her own parent she needs more help than you can give her.

Clearly she is out of control and needs to be reigned in,since you can't do ,use the legal system that it at your disposal.

When she is 18 ,you will not have the luxury of intervention without jail.

She needs to learn a hard lesson and you are the only one that is going to be able to give that to her.Through some sort of legal intervention.

I know that is the last thing you want to do but sometimes tough love saves lives.

    She has forced your hand.

She has to be accountable for her actions or this will only escalate.

The next time she could be putting her hands on the WRONG person and it won't be a juvenile family court matter,it will be criminal.

Check with your local sheriff's department to see if they have a scare tactics program. They take problem teens to jail and show them how it is.
If your daughter is involved in any illegal activity, they conduct these things for free. At least they do where I am, wouldn't hurt to check.

Bad advice, you should never give up on your child especially if the kid only hit the mother one time. Police might not need to be involved

Calling the police is NOT giving up on your child it is taking measures to insure that your child understands the severe consequence's of out of control behavior!
If you allow dangerous behavior in your child to go unchecked THEN you are essentially giving up on your child because the problem will likely escalate and then your hands are tied.
I can only assume that you have never been the parent of an out of control teen, because if you were you would see this as the LIFE SAVING gesture that is is.
