    Mower deck spring
Where is the big tension spring on a MTD 42" mowing deck supposed to be hooked!
I bought the mower used and the belt seems to be in good shape but slips when mowing.
There doesn't seem to be enough tension on deck.
I can move deck forwards and backwards easily, is this normal?

    Thanks Mark

    Hi,
Which 42"? There are a few. I am going to guess it has a stabilizer plate; a roughly square plate the attaches at the rear of the deck.
Please verify or elaborate as there is not a single answer,
    Peace,
    Clarke
