Remote stopped working after storm today
We have an older Harbor Breeze ceiling fan with a remote. We have thrown away all instructions and the remote stopped working today after we had a storm today. We have changed the batteries and I have read other questions stating a code to be used. We do not have a code and I am not sure how to get this to work again. Can anyone help, please.

Most of the "codes" are unique to the fan. Easyest way to find them is to get a ladder and remove the cover at the top of your fan, inside their will be a remote unit(big and hard to miss) pull it out so you can see. Their will be a small opening with ver tiny swiches inside, usually numbered between 1-6 they are simply a on or off. These must match the switchs in your remote for the remote to function. You need to check both remote and the init in the fan to make sure they have the same switch numbers, in the same position, if not take a small screwdriver and move them to correct position, if this dosen't fix it, its time for a new remote unit, Lowe's has them very resonably prices.

If it stopped working after a storm, I bet you will need to replace the receiver. Lightning probably fried it.
