    Ceiling fan trouble
My three-speed ceiling fan starts slowly and seems to rub. The second and third speeds don't work. However, when I switch the directional button, all three speeds work. The fan still rubs though. A combination of a bad capacitor and a loose screw perhaps?

Bad reversing switch. Not sure about the rubbing.
