My j2 visa has been extended for next 5 years, but no stamp, how long am I legal?
How long do I have in the US? Does a j1 giving me a separation effect this? If I don't have ds how can I get a stamp?

It sounds like your I-94 was extended, but five years is a long time. Confirm that your I-94 is for five years and not the DS-2019 showing the terms of the program.

You should also check with your PA.
