    Child Abandonment
I have 3 boys the father has only seen them 3 days in the last 8 months. He has only paid 400.00 of his court appointed child support in the last 7 months. He has to pay only $86 a week for three children. He calls my children and tells them that he will get them for the weekend and never shows up, he has done this many, many times and I am tired of being left to pick up the pieces of the crying children. Can I get him for abandonment of the boys and if so how can I go about it.
What are the abandonment laws in Georgia in this situation?
Oh, my boys were born out of wedlock, we were together for 10 years and have been separated for 6 years now.

There is no "getting" him, you can use this to take visit rights away, you can use this to stop contact with him, thought he court.
In Georgia abandoment is leaving them at the mall and driving off basically,
They do use this as a base for putting him in jail for non payment of support.

So how many times have you taken him to court for non payment ?
Have you turned this over to the GA child support enforcement department
    ( they are very tough)

Did you read the sticky note on the top of this forum that deals with this issue?

GA is one of the few states that refers to failure to pay child suppoort as "abandonment". So, if the father is not paying court ordered support you go back to court to or the Child support enforcement agency and ask for their help.

If you don't want him playing games with visitation, you go back to court and ask that visitation be taken away or curtailed.
