    Zoology is the study of animals. There is no disadvantage. Are you sure that's the question you want to ask?

    Not learning enough about plants would be one disadvantage. But you can take some plant courses. Zoology is a more focused major than biology and therefore you get more depth, which is an advantage.

    But, like I said, compared to what?
