    MTD 11a-020b0000 4.5 HP - Runs Rough
I have a mtd mower that is only a year old, and now it is starting to run rough like it is not getting enough gas, just cleaned sponge filter over the card and no luck.

    Hi,
With a machine this new, if you brought it to me I would have to start asking questions. It has all the earmarks of a fuel problem.
Question 1 - Did you just refill your gas can?
Question 2 - What did you clean the filter with?
Question 3 - What else could have changed since it ran well?
    Peace.

    Hi,
Despite the fact that the gas was just purchased, does that coincide with the problem with the mower. It may be fresh from the pump and may usually be dependable, but there are many hands involved before it ever came out of the pump. The tanker trucks have 7-9 compartments, they have someone who schedules what is put in what compartment in what trailer, they have someone(s) who fill those tanks, they have someone who hooks the trailer to the tractor, and they have the driver who also drains those separate compartments.
What I am saying is that one has to look at what occurs at the same time as the problem, no matter how unlikely. Be suspiscious of the fuel if its purchase coincides with your problem.
    Stuff happens.
    Peace,
    Clarke

Well I had my friends bagger mower still in the garage from last fall's bagging of leaves, I filled it up with the same gas and it started and I got my yard mowed with it. And also it has been rough the last couple of tank fulls but would stay running while mowing, but now it runs rough and dies as soon a you try to cut any grass.
