Hi I am having a very strange problem throughout my teen years I find it extremely hard to act lik myself around my parents they haven't seen me smile since the age 11 and it kills me every day I wish I could change because I am embaressed to be around other people when I'm with them because all my friends get on really well with their parents.. I love them very much and it upsets me so much. I wake up everyday hoping to change I think about what it could be and my sister is deaf and never could really have a proper relationship with her. But then again my mam is very loud and I'm not and she gets annoyed with me for not speaking up

You know a lot of teens don't get along with their parents. Just because your friends get along with theirs doesn't mean your going to get along with yours. Is there a reason they have not seen you smile?.
One thing I'm not sure I understand is.. are you saying you couldn't have a proper relationship with your sister because she's deaf? I do hope I am understanding that one wrongly. Having a hearing impairment shouldn't come into play when having a relationship with anyone be it your sister, aunt, unce, grandparents, friends and lovers. Both of my sisters are deaf and were born deaf (they also have tunnel vision and are both legally blind and will become completely blind as the years go by due to a genetic abnormality that even I carry but didn't get affected by) and even though sometimes it takes more effort I had a good relationship with them both. Does your sister sign? Did you take the effort to learn how to sign too. Even my friends learned to carry a pen and paper around with them when they came to my place just so they could talk with them...

Your mom should understand that maybe your not confrontational or as out going as her and should respect that. Some people are naturally that way just like some people are naturally loud
