First I'll give a little history for clairification purposes. I'm 47 yr. old and had tubal ligation 22 yrs. Ago after birth of last child. I Did become pregnant 10 yrs. Ago however I had a miscarriage. I found out I was by taking a hpt and then going to doc. By the time I got in at the dr. appt. I had started spotting and cramping. He ordered ultrasound and said I would probably miscarry. I went home that afternoon and DID have a miscarriage. They said it could have been a tubal pregnancy but they didn't say for sure whether it was.:confused: I asked about getting on birth control but they said the odds of me becoming pregnant again were slim enough that I shouldn't need it. Nothing has happened in between then and now. I've gone on living a normal life, no b.c. and no pregnancies.
I believe I have started perimenopause now as I've been having hot flashes for a little over a year but still normal periods... until now. My last period was normal and it started May 27. They usually last a week and are heavy with lots of clots. Okay.. fast forward to June. I was expecting my period around the end of June but nothing happened... no cramps, no cravings, nothing. I waited a couple of weeks and then took a hpt. I did it in the middle of the afternoon and it showed "not pregnant". So I wasn't too worried about it. (just chalked it up to getting older) Then on July 12, I started what I thought was to be a normal period. I had the usual clots and heavy bleeding. Then on the 14th, it just stopped completely... nothing else. The only other weird things I've had going on are sore and swollen breasts (even my husband noticed that they're "growing" lately) for about a month and I've started gaining weight like I'm bloating or something. I don't mean to be too graphic but also lately my libido has seriously increased:o. For the past few years, having sex had become a chore for me and I did not enjoy anything about it but we'd have intercourse a couple of times a month anyway. :( I just wondered that if during one of the times we had sex in June if perhaps I've become pregnant. Also, I've felt some nausea lately but not in the mornings. It's usually in the middle of the night when I wake up to pee or at night before I go to bed.
I am very confused here. I hope maybe someone here might be going through the same things I am or something similar. I'm going to buy another hpt on Friday and take it in the morning and see what it says this time.

I would really suggest going to the dr for a normal routine appointment. All that you described is normal for your cycle to change along with your period to change duration, all of that is normal. However, it is normal for pregnancy as well. So I would take another test and perhaps if still negative and still going through some noticeable changes to just make an appointment and ask for the blood test as well as the other type of pregnancy testing to rule all things out. Then maybe at that time you can discuss something that may assist you in regulating your monthly cycle.
