When to take Birth control for the first time
Its my first time taking birth control. I have not started a pack yet because I been waiting for my period to come again. I know usually women should take the pill the Sunday after they get their period. Or if they start on a Sunday, take it on a Sunday.. right? Well what if they start on a Monday.. can they take 2 pills that day for the first time. Or should they wait until another week to start it?

    For instance...
I got birth control a couple weeks ago.
I been expecting my period around this week.
Yesterday was Sunday July 19th.. today is Monday July 20th and I have my period now.
So would I start birth control Sunday July 26th for the first time?
Or can I begin my first pack today and take 2 pills today? One for Sunday and one for Monday?

You start taking the non active pills now.
That is how I have always done it.

Start with the non active Monday pill now and continue through until you finish the pack.
Time of day does not matter, morning, night or midday, whenever you are most likely to remember to take it.

Taking 2 pills at once is only in an emergency when you have forgotten to take a pill one day. Don't forget!

That's what my doctor told me, so yes, if you want to start taking it next Sunday that should be fine.

And Shaz is right, while you're on your period you should be taking the non-active pills, but since you haven't started your pill pack yet you don't need to take them yet.

    Good point Marie.
I usually start taking the non active ones to start with just to get used to remembering to take a pill every day though ;)

It is probably not how you are supposed to do it though, I have just always found it easier :o

What if birth control pills are not taken at the same time [ 11 Answers ]

Hi All, I am on birth control pills. I usually take them at 10:30pm before going to bed. I would like to know if the time at which I take my pills differs by half an hr to one hour (like sometime I take it 11pm and sometimes at 11:30pm. So basically I take it between 10:30 and 11;30pm daily)...

Birth Control causes birth defects? [ 1 Answers ]

So I take Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo and was reading some info about it and noticed that it said you should not take it if you are pregnant (obviously!) because it causes birth defects. So then I started wondering, what if you are taking it and for some reason it doesn't work and you end up pregnant (as...
