    Brown water after shocking my well
    I had to shock my well because of the "rotten egg" smell and now my water is
    Brown. How do I fix this?

    Is it brown like mud or rusty colored like from rust?

    It is a lite brown and didn't start until after I shocked the well

    I really don't know anything much about wells other than what you see in movies. But my guess is that when you shocked it it must have stirred up stuff from the 'bricks?' or the bottom of the well or something?

    Yeah one time I was at camp and the well had too much iron that turned the water rusty. We had to always leave the water run until it cleared.

    BG, some people advise that you run water down the well for a few minutes after pouring in the bleach. Personally, I think that's a lousy idea as it can wash the sides of the well and end up getting mud in the water. That might have happened with you. If you will run it, it will clear up. Might take a few hours, but it will clear up.

    Even pouring in a diluted bleach mixture, or just a gallon of bleach can wash some dirt into the water.
