    Toilet works but.
I have an upstairs toilet that flushes extremely well but recently after flushing it takes 5 to 10 minutes to refill with water to be ready to flush again. If I turn off (close)the supply at the valve near the floor, then immediately open it up again, the water really rushes in like it used to. There is no visible leaks anywhere... real puzzled by this one.

Inside the tank is the type of float that rides up the water column, NOT the arm on top leading off to a float ball.

    Help please...

Could be defective seal in fill valve, could be blockage in fill valve or could be loose washer in stop valve..

To replace seal. Turn water off at stop valve. Reach under float, lift and grasp shaft. Turn black cap 1/4 turn counter clockwise and remove. Install new seal. If you don't lift float the cap will hang on float arm.
I would replace entire fill valve just to make sure nothing is blocking.
Turn water off. Reach under float and pull gray ring around shaft up. Pull entire fill valve off lower shaft. Install new valve on shaft, making top of valve level with top of tank. Slide gray ring down to lock in place.

If that doesn't fix problem replace stop valve.

Inside the tank is the type of float that rides up the water column, NOT the arm on top leading off to a float ball.
You have a FluidMaster ballcock,(see image) the seal needs to be replaced, (see image for pictorial) Now for the slow fill: Sometimes the orifice in the seal will swell shut and slow the volume of water entering your tank. This is a common problem with these ballcocks. They have a small washer with a hole,(see image) in the center that swells shut in time preventing water from entering the tank.
Purchase a FluidMaster Seal#242 from your local big box store. To replace it you will have to shut the water off to the tank and take the tank lid off. Twist the top of the ballcock off counterclockwise, (see image ) and pull up. Pry out the seal and replace it. Reassemble, turn the water back on and give it a flush. Better now? Regards and thanks for rating my answer, Tom
