Convert vista data or hd to xp data or hd
Had vista on PC - lost motherboard - replacement motherboard will not support vista.

I have xp installed, but it will not recognize data from vista hard drive.

Though I have my data files backed up on "carbonite", I don't know if they will restore to an XP hard drive?

Else - is there software to convert a vista hd to xp formate without losing your data?

You installed XP to a different drive than you had Vista on?

What type of data are you looking to 'transfer or read'?

If just 'data' files, what programs used the data you are trying to use?

Xp on different drive, still have old drive in tact.

Perhaps I am pre-mature? Earlier, when I had trouble running xp (motherboard problem), I upgraded on the same drive to vista.

However, it showed backup drives I had, with all programs and data, as blank.

Will pickup repaired PC today. Xp installed on another drive. Old drive, in tact, still exist.

    Still a little confused.

So when you boot to windows xp, (C: drive?) you have data on another drive attached to PC that is showing in windows explorer as another drive letter?

If so, what appears when you right click on the drive with the data you are try to access?
