    S corp and unemployment
My husband and I have an s corp 50/50. We receive a weekly salary. The company pretty much does not make a profit yet. Can one of us be "laid off" and collect unemployment in Arkansas?

If you are taking out state and federal taxes from your weekly salary you probably could collect unemployment benefits. But the downside is that the amount you would collect (if Arkansas would allow it) would be half of your weekly salary. Is the S corp also contributing the proper employer taxes on your salary as well?

I really don't think it will fly with unemployment as one of the questions they have for eligibility on the weekly reporting is "are you self employed?" so that right there is going to draw red flags from them.
