Each transaction and event has a dual aspect. The rule states that for every debit there must be equal and corresponding credit.

    Element ------ Debit -------- Credit
    Asset -------- Increase ------ Decrease
    Liability ----- Decrease ------Increase
    Equity ------ Decrease ------ Increase
    Income ---------------------- Increase
    Expenses --- Increase
