We bought new last year & it worked fine. Only used 2 times and stored for winter. It starts but won't run. Drained the gas and replaced but still won't run. Anyone know what is wrong with it. Thanks nancy

    Hi,
If it has been this long since used, I would say it is a gummed carb. I know from reading other replies that SeaFoam carb cleaner is highly thought of for this.
    Peace,

Check the type of gas you use and see if it has ethanol in it. If so then its not good on the get go especially when sitting to long.

I'm the Sea foam guy and I now put additives to all gas that has ethanol in it. Hears how Ethanol is hard to get rid of. I worked on an 2 cycle outboard that only sat for 2 years. Wouldn't start. Simple thing clean carbs. I cleaned the carbs twice, ( I ripped them apart, used standard carb cleaner). No go, still ran rough. Ripped them apart again to clean and used Sea Foam instead of standard carb cleaner. Almost completed the trick. While engine running I used up a can and sprayed directly into carbs. Like night and day in difference.

The danger here is if it's a 2 cycle engine starts "gumming" up causing a bad oil in gas mixture for proper lubrication that's needed for the 2 cycle to properly lube the cylinders goes away. If not corrected or you don't treat the ethanol gas used you will always have problems at some point because of the Ethanol.

Ethanol causes serious gumming up and stops lubrication in 2 cycle engines. Which will additive you need not added to the new gas isn't used then eventually a 2 cycle piston walls and rings are shot.

I get My sea foam from my boat dealer. Outboard engine owners kept having problems with there carbs and this was what I went through. The boat dealer was getting complaints after 2 weeks of running Ethanol gas through a newly built carb. Sea Foam additive in the gas tanks solved the long term problem
