    Is it normal to have spoting 1-2 weeks before your period?
    Sometimes a week before my period I get really bad cramps and I have a little bit of spoting but it only lasts for one day and then does not return. It has even happened up to 2 weeks before my period. I take Yasmin birth control pills and I have been taking them for over a year now. Is this normal ? My period is due in 5 days and the bleeding happened a few days ago so it concerned me.

    This is usually called breakthrough bleeding. Has it occurred only since you started the Yasmine? Or did this happen before?

    The earliest I can remember having this problem is January, I can't remember if it happened before then.

    Talk to your doc. It may be time to switch birth control pills.

    Ok, thanks. I should also mention that I had cervical dysplasia three years ago and I was treated with cyrotherapy and everything was fine until September 2008 when my pap came back abnormal again. I went back once since then and it's still abnormal so could this have anything to do with it?

    My next one is August 18th and I guess if it's still showing abnormal then I might need to be treated again.
