Will my tattoo hurt
I am having my first tattoo for my birthday this year and I am worried about the pain:(. I have already picked my tattoo out and it is quite a big one and it is going to be on the bottom of my back. I am quite a big girl and I just wanted to know, how much will it hurt on the bottom of my back?

It is different for everyone.
I have known people to pass out while others barely felt a thing.
Dig your nail into your skin and drag it... it's a similar feeling.
When I had mine there was a bit of pain but it was not bad.
My second one was a bit larger so I bought numbing cream from my local pharmacy, you literally do not feel anything other than a vibration.
If you are really worried give that a go but honestly, it isn't that bad. :)

The more you stress and worry about it, the more anxious you will be and the more painful you will think it is.
It's really just a dull irritating pain. You could always start with a smaller tattoo and add onto it, if you are really that concerned about the pain factor.

I agree with justwantfair, the more you stress about it the more it will hurt.
If you are concerned about the pain I would suggest NOT getting it on your back. Its one of the more painfull spots. Could you perhapes move it to your sholder at the top of your back? Right where the blades come back and meet with your spine?

I would suggest going and getting the outline done and then letting it heal, and going back for the rest later. That way there's less sitting and more healing.

Then when you go back it will be a lot less painful because outlining is the painful part of tattoos.

To me when it first starts it feels like I am getting scratched pretty deep. Then about halfway through the outline the spot goes numb and I really don't feel a thing. I don't know if that is the same for everyone but that is how it works for me.
Word of warning TATTOO's ARE ADDICTIVE!!

Please excuse the term, but a tramp stamp is one of those that I see girls cringing a little more than some of the other places you can get tattooed. The worst places are the sternum, ribs, throat area, feet, knees, shins, and most places near bone as well as anywhere on the lower back with fatty tissue.
It pretty much just feels like a cat scratch- everyone takes a tattoo a little differently.
Make sure to have a meal before you get the tattoo to keep your endorphins in check or you will get kind of dizzy and a bit faint if you don't.
It's all worth it in the end- the pain is a necessary part of the process.
Good luck. Show us a pic when you get it.

The anticipation is the worst part in most cases.

I actually was the opposite!
The outline didn't bother me, it was the coloring that was more painful.
I think it was because with the outline he would do a bit and then stop and re-adjust his hand, with the coloring it was more constant.

Definitely agree with you mugger, I got mine done on each hip.
The "squishy" part of my stomach was fine, didn't really hurt but when it went over the hip bones... ouch! Lucky I only had the tail going over that part do it didn't take long :D
