I have a featherlite weedeater that is hard to start and harder to keep running. My belief is that the air/fuel set screw needs adjusting. However I can not locate it. Does it exist? It seems that it will start under full choke and then run under max power for a few seconds before stalling. As it warms up the time it stays running grows slowly. I first go to half choke than no choke. HELP ME

Doubt it is an adjustment, but it could be a clogged inlet screen.

A clogged fuel filter will cause this problem of the crab starving for gas . A weak fuel pump also can cause this.

As it warms up the time it stays running grows slowly.

The rubber fuel pump works more and gets heated up to pump more easily and then it finally runs better.

Also do you know if you are using gas with Ethanol in it? If so get back.

Weed eater carbs are unbelievably sensitive, Use High test gas and Mid grade but not cheap gas. Also there are carb foam sprays that work well on cleaning out the carbs. Try that before you mess with adjustments. Also check plug and air inlet to carb as cribgy suggested. I'm betting it's a gas octane problem added with dirt in carb or fuel filter is clogged a bit which explains the choke problem. Most New weed eaters has the carb adjustments so you can't adjust them to meet the air quality acts.

Try the higher octane and foam spray carb cleaner and run that through the engine while running.

The fuel pump sides of current carbs is no longer a rubber compound, Teflon worked well, but had bad lifespan. Walbro and Tillosen currently uses a Mylar reinforced composite material; and Zama uses a purely synethic material that is patented.
I stand by my inlet screen answer as for many years in the past WeedEater specified a Dutch Twill screen that Walbro recommended against and no one else would use because of its propensity to clog. It is on the pump side of the carb (the side with the one screw.)
Incidentally, everybody still uses rubber-based compounds for the metering side as no other material has proven viable. This means they can stiffen with age and no longer correctly meter the fuel.

Just found two featherlites leaned up on dumpster. Fuel lines rotted off. New lines, new fuel, removed primer pump and cleaned all parts. Something strange that I found in both was a tiny clear plastic ring on body side of pump gasket. They are running great now. I have about $12 in both both including fuel and oil.

Let me add that I turned out screw (high speed) 1/2 to 3/4 turn. One requires a special tool and the other I just popped off yellow cap with built in stop then it can be adjusted further.
