My father hardly smiles. He has always been this way... ever since he was a kid. He didn't have many friends growing up, either. My father is happily married to my mother and they are both very happy. My father is a happy guy but he doesn't like to show it. I feel like he is socially awkward even with his kids! There are so many times where he makes feel uncomfortable because he won't smile. He doesn't like to show his feelings, except when he is mad.

I really love my father. He is responsible, a provider, and loving. I couldn't ask for any other father, I just wish he would show MORE love. And I wish he would smile and laugh more instead of always having that serious face.

He needs to have other friends besides my mother and he needs to laugh and smile a lot more.

Sounds like your dad is happy.
Maybe that's just the way he is,as you say he is happily married to your mother and you could not ask for a better dad.

You feel uncomfortable because he does not smile in social situations,maybe he does not find it at all amusing!

If you want you could bring him to a football game or share an interest with him,happy does not always mean smiling and laughing all he time.
