My Central A/C Unit is not coming on.
Hi. My central a/c unit has stopped coming on. I was outside doing the yard and my unit was running fine. I tried weed eating around unit and small wire running from unit to inside house became entagled in weed -eater. I turned off weed-eater and proceeded to remove wire from around weed-eater head. Unit was still operating at this point. I finished weed-eating near back of house and then headed inside. I noticed that unit had stopped at this point but assumed that thermostat had reached previously set temp. I then proceeded to turn unit colder and it never came back on. I returned outside and checked wires very thoroughly and carefully and found no breakage in wires. I then removed unit side cover to investigate further and found a spring loaded switch in which, when presssed, unit comes on. Upon release of this switch however, unit goes off again. I then cheated switch and returned inside to see what was happening on the inside and although outside unit was on, and thermostat turned on, nothing was happening. I can hear a sort of bubbling water type sound with switch cheated on outside but, still inside blower won't come on. What could possibly be my problem? What am I missing? Up until today I've never had a problem with my unit. Oh, and I also checked all house circuit breakers. All were fine. PLEASE HELP!!

It is very hard to tell exactly from here what the problem is BUT I would visit the site of the last problem which is the low voltage control wire you messed up with the weed whip. The wires could have been damaged inside of the outer casing and you will need a meter and know how to use it to check the circuits properly that this wire controls.

Also it is possible the wiring shorted out causing a fuse to blow on the circuit board of the inside unit if so equipped. This work might be best left to a professional unless you are familiar with such wiring and how it controls the circuits.
