    Rebuild possible of 5 ton AC unit or cost of replacement
    We've been told our 5-ton Carrier AC unit has 'frozen' and needs to be replaced. The cost is more then we can afford, >$2600 and we are trying to find out if a rebuild is possible and what an expected replacement should cost. We live in Arizona and are headed toward 105+ degree days- help?

    By froze, do you mean the compresor has locked up? How old is this unit?

    Th e unit is 7 years old, but we've been told model 38BRC only has a 5 year warranty. We only have to stay in this house for 5 months, so we thought a rebuild would be less expensive then a replacement.
