Hey people. I just found out yesterday night after some blood work that I have mononucleosis. I thought I was getting chickenpox because I have a rash - apparently you get a rash sometimes with mono. I was shocked to find out because I don't have a severe sore throat like everyone I know did when they had mono. I awoke at 5 am this morning because my body hurt so bad. It even hurt to wiggle my toes! Does anyone have any tips or experiences they can share?

I had mono as a kid. You need to get the proper rest and eat properly. Don't think just because you feel better that you can overdo it as you will quickly relapse and have to start all over again. Listen to what your doctor tells you to do and follow his instructions implicitly so you will properly recover. It can take up to 6 months until you can resume any strenuous activities.

This morning I went into the ER because of severe pain. I've heard that people with mono sleep nonstop--well not me. I slept for only 4 hours last night. I couldn't sleep half the night because I was in so much pain. I found out that my spleen is so swollen that it's rubbing against my ribs. I was put on a steroid which will hopefully take the swelling down. Here's hoping for a night of rest tonight.
