    What are the requirements to run 2 washing machines?
    We are thinking of purchasing a second washing machine to use for our baby's laundry. However, we only have one set of taps.

    a) Is it possible to connect both machines to the existing taps without adding an extra set of taps? - a friend has suggested a some sort of adaptor?
    b) If an adaptor can be used, can it control the water flow so that we don't have to run both machines at the same time?
    c) Does the adaptor have to be installed by a qualified plumber?

    U can buy a splitter a home depot to install on your water lines.

    The only problem I see would be the discharge. Don't think both will fit in same stand pipe. One machine would have to discharge in slop sink.

    U would not be able to run both machines at same time. Too much water volumn.

    a) Yes! A couple of hose bib wyes, (see image) spliting the water to each washer should do it.
    b) Some wyes have a shut off on each branch but your washers solenoid valve would take care of isolating one washer while the other's running.
    c) No.

    Since you're not going to be running the washers at the same time, and if they're setting side by side why not simply swap the discharge hoses into the stand pipe each time one is used. That would solve the drrainage issue.

    If you have 2" stand pipe than both discharge hoses should fit into it. You could also install Y on stand pipe and use each outlet for each discharge hose.

    Junez: My sister has 2 sets of stockable washers and dryers, installed next to each other, exactly for the same reason as you are mentioning. She had it installed before her baby was born and got so much used to this set up, she swears by it up to today. Today, she says she cannot imagine not to have 2 sets of washer and dryers.
