Just brought parvo pup home from treatment, can she get it again?
I've bleached and soaked and washed and everything you can do. But I'm still freaking out. I just brought my pup home from the vet yesterday. She is doing wonderful! But I'm just nervous if she will be able to contract the virus very easily? I also just read that once your pup has parvo and overcomes it, that the dog can never get it again (I'm sure this is after the dog is completely better). But I was just wondering if anyone else has heard this and if it's true and any ideas on cleaning the furniture of the virus? Thank you!!
    Susan.

I had a Parvo-puppy that recovered quite well with no issues upon returning home. I bleached toys and threw away anything that could not be cleaned with bleach. I also wondered about things like carpeting and furniture harboring the virus, but that puppy went on to have a long and healthy life!

Your dog should be safeguarded against contracting it again and is possibly even immune to it over his lifetime due to having had the virus already.

If you have other pets, be sure they are vaccinated against the virus.

The virus lives in soil for 7 months and freezing will only preserve it, so don't bring any new, unprotected puppies or dogs into the yard.

I am very happy to hear both puppies lived. And the good news is that parvo is a one time thing. Bleach is the best thing to kill the virus. Yes, bleach everything. That will protect any other dogs that visit. Otherwise the virus is there for 6 months waiting to put another puppy through what yours was or worse.

I have never had a puppy get parvo, but have been taught to avoid exposing new puppies to it. So many people lose their puppy almost as soon as they fall in love with it.
