    The best is whatever you are comfortable with or for that matter, economic reasons. Mine is set at 75, but then I close my windows tight, pull my blinds at the start of the day to reduce heat within the house and my air conditioner seldom has to come on to compensate. In keeping with the new 'green rules' here in Ontario, they recommend 78 as a good temp for most people to live by.
