:(:(I have an old gas furnace (air ease) the blower motor won't turn on for the heat or the a/c. I hear it click when I switch from the two and the a/c and the heat are working but the blower is not, I'm currently laid off so I need cheap fix it answers thanks,JOE,P.S. my dogs chewed up the wire (Low voltage) outside to the a/c but I fixed it,(Rather simple) it worked for a short while then the blower stopped working ,maybe coincidence... the blower is not seased I can turn it by hand it moves nice and smooth...

Does the motor hum and/or get hot? If so, you might try replacing the capacitor. It should be around $20 or so.

The blower motor is not hot moves freely, I cannot see anything resemling a capacitor by the blower but I took a cover off on the outside of the furnace and this looks like a capacitor inside it unplugs and has 5 pronges that plug in it is a honeywell has 24v 59/60hz on the sidecontact ratings 12afl 60 alr 120vac
6afl 35 alr 240vac
And a few more like this is this what I should replace Joe

I removed the motor also do not see a capacitor attatched on or near the blower there is only two wire going to the blower and that's the power, those wires go back to a junction box with a transformer on it...

I checked the voltage going to the motor and its 116 apr is the motor bad?

My fan on my centeral air unit won't spin but still makes a noise like it wants to come on what could be wrong with it?

This sounds like a relay. When the thermostat is calling for air, do you hear the relay click? Can you safely close the contacts (with an wooden stick or something non-conductive)?

It might be. We want to be sure before declaring it dead, though.

Is there a "hump" on the side of the motor? Sometimes, the cap is on the motor itself.

There is no hump on the motor I took the motor off wired it directly to a plug and it did not work, unless there is a capacitor inside the motor I don't think it has one...

That was a good test. Based on that, I would tend to believe that your motor is bad. If you're getting 116 volts to the motor in the furnace, and plugging the motor into the AC directly doesn't make it run, the motor is suspect. Take it with you to an industrial supply house to get a replacement. At least you'll save a hefty labor charge.
