    Birth crtfct does not bear fathers name-can the child's last name be changed?
    Hello,

    My daughter is 2yrs old and her birth certificate does not bear her fathers last name.

    Paternity was eventually established through court, but the certificate was never changed.

    Am I able to change my daughters last name to mine without his consent? He is not in her life and has not seen her since she was 2 months old.

    No. Your going to need his permission for a name change. He IS the legal father.
