Greetings all,

Okay, I've been asked to remove the electrical supply from a storage shed to an above ground pool. The pool is being removed.

To me the task is fairly straight forward. Kill the power to the shed, remove the two pool breakers from the subpanel. Cap off the electrical conductors from the subpanel toward the pool. Activate the subpanel.

At the pool, discconnect the pool pump, electrical outlets and lights. Decision time, do I pull the cables out of the ground or cut them off below ground (as in terra firma) level and put them in watertight boxes.

I believe that my nephew just wants the yard back so he will just be planting grass.

I'm leaning towards pulling the cables. Suggestions, advice?

No one can argue with pulling out the cables. Nothing like digging and discovering an unknown cable years later.

Don't forget blank fillers for any removed breakers or open knockouts.

Did away with my 10 x 20 ft pool too. Go figure, try a pool in Maine. Get to use it 6 days, and clean leaves and pine needles and frogs and insects of every size.

Never said I was the brightest bulb in the pack.

I sold my 24' round pool for $70 to the aluminium scape guy and left the supply at the shed. It was GFCI protected and you never know when you may want juice for something else. Between the shed and the pool I agree with TK, take them up but you could just leave the breakers in place with no lines attached. He already owns them, they are in place and present no danger.

Personally, I would add a plastic box and cover, wire nuts. Disconnect in panel with label locating box. I don't have a problem with hitting pipes in the yard, know where they run, or have a locator, I would hate to dig it up, then later need a receptacle in the middle of the front yard for your Christmas tree, same location? Post light?
