    White, fibrous material protruding from tear duct.
    Hi folks;

    I'll try to make this brief. For the last couple of weeks, it felt like I had a grain of sand or something stuck in the corner of my right eye, closest to the nasal area. I finally took a look three days ago and discovered that the sharp object was not actually in the corner of the eye, but very close. I think it's a tear duct, because there is a tiny hole... through which something white was protruding.

    I got a tweezer and pulled it out. It was a whitish, tough strand of something or other. It had a ragged appearance. I figured "problem" solved. The next morning, there was another piece of it protruding, so I removed that as well. This morning was the third and final time I pulled this weird stuff out of the duct. If it comes back, I'm going to the doctor.

    Has anybody here experienced this, or heard of such a thing? The duct doesn't hurt or anything.

    Thanks in advance...

    Sounds to me like you may have a sty or another type of infection. I would go see your doctor, an eye doctor if you have one.

    Good luck hon

    Sounds like a clogged tear duct, and this can cause lots of problems. NOT something that you need to be dealing with yourself. Go visit your Eye Doctor.

    Thanks for the replies...
    The fibrous stuff has not returned. I used to get styes all the time as a child, and this was definitely not a stye. The material was rough, not pus... plus, it wasn't painful.

    I'm wondering if it wasn't actually a tear duct. There was a small hole, like a tear duct, but no pain. From what I understand, blocked tear ducts are supposed to be painful. Still, you're absolutely right, Chihuahua mama... I'm sure my doc would be a tad unhappy to discover that I'd been performing minor surgery on my eye area. If it returns, I'm going straight to her office!

    Just because there is not pain, doesn't mean there isn't an issue. No matter if its gone now, you need to see the eye doctor to see what the issue is.
