    Can parakeets mate if they have a nest but not a nesting box?
    Please,please HELP I need to know fast!:)

    I used to raise Cockatiels as a hobby. I had nesting boxes for them to lay their eggs in. Yes, birds can mate without a nesting box. The female will just lay her eggs on the floor of the cage though. I would suggest going to the pet store and see if they have any of the premade nests for sale. Depending on the size of your cage they don't take up too much room.

    If your birds are mating, you want to be sure that the female is not disturbed by too much noise and commotion around the cage. Try not to vacuum, etc around the cage. Things like that will make a difference in having a successful clutch of chicks and no chicks but dud eggs. Also, be sure to feed your parakeets properly during mating season.
