What is a land wire... I'm trying to hang up a ceiling fan with a remote and I have never heard of the term land wire... is this the copper wire?

The copper or green wire is called Ground, other areas may be called earth ground.
Sounds like something lost in translation.
Earth, land, and ground are similar words?
LAN wiring is something else.

Well in the world of electronics a land is a connection point.

But the fan is not an electronic device. Could this possibly relate to the remotes receiver?

Personally, I like the "Translation error" best.

I had a light fixture and was instructed to connect to dirt. Since I had the hot and neutral connected I figured dirt was ground.

My guess is land = earth = ground.
