Hi I just recently purchases a Honeywell Thermostat RTH221. My old Rite Temp thermostat

Took a dump on me. A buddy who wired that for me is no longer around, and thinking it

Wouldn't be too hard, I decided to try myself. There are 4 wires coming out of the box the

Thermostat hooks up to. They are Red, Orange, White and Green. On the thermostat, there

Are wire slots marked Y, G, Rh, Rc, and W. There is a jumper between Rh and Rc. I can't get

This thing to work for the life of me. I tried hooking up the Red wire to the Rh and left the

Jumper to Rc. I attached the White wire to the W slot. I attached the Green wire to the G

Slot. And finally, I attached the Orange wire to the Y slot. When this didn't work, I tried

Switching the Orange and the White wire, but still nothing worked. On the Installation

Instructions, there is something that says if the old thermostat was mounted onto an

Electrical box, it might have been powered by 120/240 volts. If that's the case, I have the

Wrong thermostat. How would I find out about the power supply? My daughter has a

Special helmet on her head to wear which we can't put on her because it is too hot in my

Place, and we need a/c super bad so time is of the essence! Thank you for your help.

OK, I tracked the thermostat wires back to the furnace and saw that the green wire went to the G slot, the red wire to the R slot, the orange wire to Y slot, and the white wire to the W slot. So, if this process of figuring out what my thermostat wires are is correct, I must have the wrong thermostat as far as the correct power/voltage goes. I'm not to familiar with electrical terms but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Input from a expert would be nice...
